India is known worldwide for its variegated culture, rich heritage and wonderful tradition. India is a country of very sublime social, moral and spiritual values.
But with the advent of western culture, education and technology, there is consistent erosion of values and principles. There is a marked decline in the characters and moral values.
The National Policy of Education(1986) rightly diagnosed the problem: It says, “The absence of provision for education in social, moral and spiritual values is a serious defect in the curriculum”. Journal of Education and Practice says, “Today most of the crimes are committed by students coming out of schools and colleges”.
ISKCON Hubli-Dharwad through its Cultural and Value Education Services is trying to fill the gap which is being created by our educational system.
One such novel initiative is Prahalada Sunday School. Prahalada Sunday School is a once a week program to train children in character building, personality development, ethical and spiritual values, meditation, story-telling, music and sloka recitation.
The children are taught values by engaging them in meaningful conversations, full filled activities and games.
